While building the path to professional career, some people may find it difficult to balance between work and life. Once more time and more time was invested into work, it may end up sacrificing the quality of social life and relationship between friends and family.

When you have decided to spend more time with your friends and families, your boss may feel unhappy on your commitment to the works and you may face difficulties on your year-end performance evaluation. It is a tough challenge in balancing work and life.

Some people may tell you that successful career and wonderful social life cannot be co-existed. But is it true? Definitely no. You can easily enjoy your well balanced life by properly manage and plan your time.

Here are four simple tips in helping you to achieve work-life balance:

No 1.     Set priorities

None of us have unlimited time and energy, thus, identifying what to do is essential for a well-being life. Before making any decision on what to do, any decision made has to be balanced in term of physical, social, mental and spiritual which are four main fundamental human needs.

Then, we need to prepare a list of goals based on the fundamental needs. We may not be able to accomplish all of the listed goals, and have to make choices. Don’t be greedy, be realistic and never overestimate your capability. Then, the next thing to do is to set priorities on your goals and be remembered to set a dead line for each of these goals.

By doing so, you will be able to know what to do next and what is the more important tasks for now.

2.     Eliminate time wasting activities

Besides knowing what to do, you should know what not to do as well. The reason why we do not have sufficient time to get a balance between work and life is that we may have wasted our precious time on some meaningless activities.

These activities include checking Facebook frequently, surfing the web blindly and watching soap drama are good for entertainment and releasing stress, but it contributes almost nothing to your work-life balance.

You may feel surprised if you calculate how much time you spend on this kind of activities. Thus, eliminating or reducing time on these time wasting activities would extremely beneficiary for you to concentrate on your priority goals.

3.     Limit work hours

Work is very important but it is only part of your life. Besides works, you may spend your time on proper rest, sports, social activities, personal growth and also travelling. You have to understand that there is always unfinished business and tasks at your work place.

No matter how much time you have invested at your work place, you will always feel that you have no sufficient time to complete the given job. Also, investing too much time on works may become counter-productive because you may become fatigue, tired and depressed after you have pushed yourself too hard.

Therefore, we need to rethink again on time distribution. You can decide to allocate majority of your time on your work but be remembered to set a limit on work hours. The rest of the time shall be invested on your life which can bring enjoyment and fulfilment.

This can replenish you with more positive energy to face another challenge in your work.

4.     Set up weekly plan

It is always important to properly plan and review your plan weekly. It is to ensure that you can keep track to the progress of your achievement and stay focused on what you have planned. Every week, you have to relook on what you have done on the past week and evaluate your performance.

Through this process, you can understand yourself more and can make proper adjustment on your next weekly plan. With the help of this plan, you may know how to effectively distribute your time throughout a week to fulfil your fundamental needs which can lead you to a balanced life.
